Deputy Joseph C. Antwine, '12, Term Scholarship
In March of 2015, Mrs. Tunstall and Ms. Antwine announced to The Citadel their intention to establish the Deputy Joseph C. Antwine, ‘12, Term Scholarship with a gift of $10,000 to be fulfilled through contribution of $2,500 per year over a period of four (4) years. A sheriff’s deputy with the Florence County Sheriff’s Office and a SWAT member affiliated with the Entry Team, Joseph Charles Antwine, The Citadel Class of 2012, passed away in November of 2013 from injuries sustained from a car accident while responding to a fellow deputy’s request for backup. He received numerous awards and recognition throughout his academic and professional career, including the Col. Joseph E. Perkins Honor Committee Award for recognition of invaluable service to the Corps of Cadets by upholding and promoting the high ideals of The Citadel honor system. He was also President of The Citadel’s Criminal Justice Society for two years, a dedicated brother of the Kappa Alpha Order Theta Commission, and an active member of The Citadel’s Reenactment Society. Joseph was a man of honor and integrity, a wonderful son, and a loving brother. Mrs. Tunstall and Ms. Antwine wish to honor the memory of their son and brother with this scholarship. The purpose of this non-endowed gift is to provide an annual award of $2,500 in scholarship aid, based on financial need, to a cadet or cadets majoring in criminal justice.
