Major Richard H. Schmidt Memorial Scholarship

The Major Richard H. Schmidt Memorial Scholarship was initiated in 1980 as the result of contributions from the Schmidt family. The fund is named in memory of Richard H. Schmidt, The Citadel Class of 1952, who was killed in action in Vietnam in 1966. Scholarships are available to cadets who possess attributes in accord with the high standards of The Citadel. Preference is given to cadets with financial need. The first award was made in 1984.
