James Alexander and Jessie Lawson Grimsley Scholarship

The James Alexander and Jessie Lawson Grimsley Scholarship was established by The Citadel Academic Board in 1989 in honor of retiring Citadel President, MG James A. Grimsley, Jr., The Citadel Class of 1942, and his wife, Jessie Lawson Grimsley. Scholarships are available to cadets who possess those attributes of ability, character, temperament, and personality that are in accord with traditionally high standards of The Citadel. The first award was made in 1996.
