William M. Kitchin Memorial Scholarship

The William M. Kitchin Memorial Scholarship was established in 2001 by the Camden County Sheriff’s Office to provide funds for four partial scholarships to a member of each of the four classes at The Citadel. Preference given to at-risk youths from either Camden County, Georgia, southeast Georgia, or the Georgia Sheriff’s Association Youth Home. Recipients must major in criminal justice or a related field and they must maintain a 2.5 GPA to retain the scholarship. The Sheriff of Camden County, Georgia, will participate in the candidate selection process in coordination with The Citadel Director of Financial Aid. The first award was made in 2005. ** Amended in 2016 to read: Recipients must major in criminal justice or a related field. First preference shall be given to residents of Georgia Sheriff’s Association Youth Homes; second preference shall be given to students residing in Camden County, Georgia. In the event that no eligible student meeting either of these criteria is enrolled, the scholarship shall be awarded to any eligible student from Georgia.
