Mr. and Mrs. George F. McCormick, Class of 1935, Citadel Scholarship

The Mr. and Mrs. George F. McCormick, Class of 1935, Citadel Scholarship was initiated in 1995 as a result of a generous gift from Mr. and Mrs. McCormick. The scholarship fund shall be used to support four full scholarships to be awarded to Citadel cadets for a four-year period, with one scholarship in place for each class. Beneficiaries shall possess those attributes of ability, character, temperament, and personality that are in accord with the traditionally high standards of The Citadel. In 2017, the criteria was amended to increase the geographic area as well as add the additional consideration of financial need. New geographic preference shall be given to residents of Fairfield County in the state of South Carolina. Second preference shall include residents of Chester and Darlington Counties. Third preference shall include residents of the state of South Carolina. Students demonstrating financial need shall be given first consideration. If, in any given year, no student applies who exhibits financial need, then any student who meets the aforementioned criteria may be considered. Recipients shall rank in the upper third of their high school graduating class. The first award was made in 1996.
