Nicholas J. and Sam J. Bouras Scholarship

The primary purpose of the Nicholas J. and Sam J. Bouras Scholarship is to provide funds for scholarship support to members of the Corps of Cadets who show a desire to achieve the following leadership skills: 1) The candidate should be able to express his or her acknowledgement, love and fear of God, as “the fear of God is the beginning of wisdom.” Proverbs 9:10; 2) The desire to improve intellectually, spiritually, and physically; 3) Demonstrate a history of good work ethic; 4) A desire to achieve the highest level of honesty and integrity; 5) The ability to maintain a high level of respect and service to others. In addition to the above leadership skills, the recipient should be a citizen of the United States. In July of 2012, William S. Crane, The Citadel Class of 1979, announced to The Citadel Foundation his desire to establish a scholarship in honor of Nicholas J. Bouras, his friend and mentor, and in memory of Mr. Bouras’s brother, Sam J. Bouras. The Bouras brothers exemplify the character traits of principled leadership which The Citadel aims to instill in each member of the Corps of Cadets.
