Louis and Syliva Medica Academic Scholarship in Electrical Engineering
In December of 2008, Adolph J. Medica, The Citadel Class of 1952, announced to The Citadel Foundation his intention to establish the Louis and Sylvia Medica Academic Scholarship in Electrical Engineering with a bequest gift. Mr. Medica’s intent was to establish a named scholarship in memory of his parents. Mr. Medica earned his bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering at The Citadel and his masters degree in industrial engineering at Stevens Institute of Technology. He was globally recognized senior executive in the aerospace industry. In his final professional position, after a distinguished career, he served as a corporate officer at United Technologies Corporation and President of Space Transportation Systems. In addition, he served on several boards throughout his career including the National Science Foundation and United States Air Force Association as well as leading the mid-Atlantic Citadel alumni association. The primary purpose of this endowment is to provide funds to support a Citadel student or students majoring in electrical engineering, with preference for students who are members of the South Carolina Corps of Cadets.
