Bessie L. Daniel Scholarship

In 1986, Mr. William R. Daniel, ’59, established a scholarship to honor his mother, Bessie L. Daniel, for the efforts and encouragement she gave him while he was a cadet at The Citadel and for the Christian witness of her life. The primary purpose of the Bessie L. Daniel Scholarship is to provide funds to support a rising sophomore cadet from the Protestant faith community. The recipient must be a U.S. citizen, a member of the Protestant faith community and actively involved in on-campus Christian activities that are registered with The Citadel, authorized by the Office of Cadet Activities, and approved by the Protestant Chaplain. The recipient should also possess those attributes of ability, character, temperament, and personality that are in accord with the traditionally high standards of The Citadel. Financial need should not be a criterion.
