Mr. and Mrs. D. Gregory Chesnutt, '85, Scholarship
In September of 2023, Mr. and Mrs. D. Gregory Chesnutt, ‘85, announced to The Citadel Foundation the intent to establish the endowed Mr. and Mrs. D. Gregory Chesnutt, ’85, Scholarship. The primary purpose of the Mr. and Mrs. D. Gregory Chesnutt, ’85, Scholarship is to provide financial resources to support cadets who have demonstrated a high level of academic ability along with financial need, particularly cadets who are academically talented but from under-resourced households. First preference shall be given to cadets from the state of Georgia. In years in which no student enrolled meets the first geographic preference, the scholarship shall be available to any cadet who has a demonstrated high level of academic ability along with financial need. It is the donors’ desire that The Citadel also place emphasis on recruiting prospective students from the state of Georgia who have demonstrated a high level of academic ability. When possible, the recipient shall receive the award each of their four years of enrollment. Incoming freshman recipients should have demonstrated values of servant leadership, humility, and volunteerism during their high school career. Incoming freshman recipients should have a GPA and an ACT/SAT score above the average GPA and average ACT/SAT scores for incoming freshmen. Rising sophomore, junior, and senior recipients must maintain a 2.5 cumulative GPA or higher. When possible, the minimum amount received by a student should not be less than the award he or she received the previous academic year. In the instance that a recipient discloses he or she is unable to return to The Citadel due to financial issues, Mr. and Mrs. Clark request they be notified by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships. Members of the Clark family may submit scholarship recipient recommendations to The Citadel’s Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships by February 1 for consideration in the upcoming academic year. Those recommendations shall be weighed along with other eligibility criteria and the final decision will be made by the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarships.
